Nathalie Vissers photographic 8-week journey shares tips from an introvert during lockdown.

Tips from an Introvert, Nathalie Vissers

"During the first COVID-19 lockdown, our daily lives were suddenly very different from what they used to be. Forced to remain inside and social distance as much as possible, I realized that as an introvert I might have some advantage in dealing with this new daily life structure. I decided to make a daily 'Tip from an introvert' photograph, which included a photograph, along with a daily tip (for example: 'put on your chill clothes', 'do your dishes', or 'date yourself'). I did this for 8 full weeks and shared it on social media. My aim was to bring some visual humor and beauty in between the serious and anxiety-inducing daily news." Nathalie Vissers

Behind the mask, Bert Daenen

"It started just to give them something, a little experience, a little time out of this Covid-environment. Like others who sent them food to support them. But really soon, it evolved, the series (in total 100 portraits) got so much attention that only two months later I had this exhibition, that was covered on the news on Belgian national television, in newspapers and so on... This year, the series has been exposed a second time during an international photo-festival in Belgium." Bert Daenen

Twinkle Banerjee and her mother imagine the stories of passersby while in quarantine.

Characters of Memorial Park, by Twinkle Banerjee

"As the day progressed, my mother usually narrated the interesting stories unfolding in the park in front of our apartment. This lead to me picking up her binoculars and deciding to record these stories, each one separated, magnified, and told with the same dignity as the other. Some mundane, some happy and some sad, these stories started reflecting the environment and the changes that were taking place, and as a viewer gave me access to all of it from my little balcony." Twinkle Banerjee

The ‘Dark Ages” of NYC amidst COVID-19

The Dark Ages by Dereck Larsen

“My first time out shooting after the quarantine took effect felt eerily strange, with such an absence of life and unpredictability that you get here. What we were left with at the time of shooting this was a shell of a city I once knew. Absent of car horns and typical organized chaos you’ve come to expect, now replaced by a calm lingering silence above and below ground. The subway was now nearly vacant with the exception of essential workers, homeless, and those of us unwilling to sit down. ” Dereck Larsen
